RPW Exclusive Interview: After Months Of Speculation, Adam McAuliffe Joins Hoyenga’s Big Block Program For ’20

Column By: BOBBY CHALMERS / RPW – BROADALBIN, NY – Adam McAuliffe is finally going to be able to live out a dream. He’s going to get his shot at the Big Blocks.

Rumors had been swirling around since Super DIRT Week when McAuliffe told RPW during a video interview that the Sportsman Championship at Oswego could be his final Sportsman race…that he was moving up.

Now on the verge of Thanksgiving, things have come into focus as he’ll take over the position on the Laudy Hoyenga team that Cody Bleau had last season and be a teammate to David Constantino in 2020.

“I’ve really excited for the opportunity,” McAuliffe said. “Dave approached me and asked if I’d go to a meeting that was being set up. He wanted me to go over some things with Laudy. He wanted to see if it could work and after about 15 minutes, and him seeing my equipment, he said I had the ride.”

The team will call the Fonda Speedway home next season. In regards to equipment, the McAuliffe / Hoyenga pairing will be loaded for bear come time for cars to hit the track next season.

“My car will be put in storage and will be aboard two of Laudy’s DKM Cyclones,” he said. “We just purchased a complete roller and I will also have a 2018 DKM at my disposal.”

Now this isn’t the first time McAuliffe has been behind the wheel of a Big Block, but it will be his first in competition, but he’s excited for the opportunity.

“I’m extremely excited to see what we can do,” he said. “I had opportunities in the past to hot lap Big Blocks. I tried Bill Scoons car once and for the Wilder team, so I think we will be just fine.”
