“Mad Max” Is Set To Tackle Bristol Motor Speedway Again This Weekend…This Time On Dirt

Story By: TYLER WALKER / MAX MCLAUGHLIN RACING – MOORESVILLE, NC – “The Last Great Colosseum” will see its final weekend of dirt racing April 22nd-24th, 2021 when the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds make their debut alongside the return of the World of Outlaw NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars.

Bristol has now been covered in dirt three times with nearly a dozen races since 2000. Max McLaughlin, of Mooresville, NC, will be one of a few drivers to have driven at Bristol Motor Speedway prior the “Bristol Throwdown”. In his last trip to Bristol, Max brought home a Top-3 Finish in the Hattori Racing Enterprises #1 ARCA Menards Series Toyota Camry.

The start of the 2021 Big Block Season has been one to remember for Max. After a successful stint during OktoberFAST that resulted in a win at Weedsport Speedway, he has been tabbed to drive the legendary Sweeteners Plus 32c for Coffey McCreadie Enterprises. Max and the CME team brought the first marquee events of 2021 home with one victory, three top-fives and four top-10s to take the 50th DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator Championship for the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida.

Despite the hot start to the season, the last few races have been up and down. The momentum is now in a favorable direction with a top-four finish at Martinsville in the NASCAR Whelen Tour Event, Max is confident and excited to get back in the 32c.

While Max is optimistic about this weekend, he knows it will not be easy.

“This race is a major deal, we have great equipment and I feel confident in myself and the team. We can do it, all the cards need to land in the right place.” McLaughlin said. “Bristol’s facility can be intimidating and breathtaking, but we have been here before. I have taken in the sights, now the battle will solely be on the track. I’m going to enjoy it and we will give it our all.”

He closed with “I have to thank Vic Coffey, Coffey McCreadie Enterprises, Carl Myers Enterprises, and everyone at Sweetener’s Plus, for giving me the opportunity to wheel this legendary car.”

McLaughlin and the stars of the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series will race for Bristol eminence Friday and Saturday, April 23-24. Both Friday & Saturday will feature 40-lap Features, paying $10,000-to-win.
