Aaron Turkey, James Michael Friesen, Dave Bailey, Jeffrey May, & Jordan Fidler Collect Merrittville Wins

Story By: STEVE PETTY / MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY – THOROLD, ONT – Ohsweken, Ontario’s Aaron Turkey scored the win as the 360 Sprint Cars returned to Merrittville Speedway on Saturday night.

James Michael Friesen from St. Catharines, Ontario scored the victory in the Rick’s Delivery DIRTcar Sportsman. Multi-time Hoosier Stock track champion Dave Bailey from Hagersville, Ontario won the Hoosier Stock main event. Past divisional champion Jeffrey May from Mt. Hope, Ontario scored the victory in the RONA/Doidge Building Centre Mod Lite feature event. Jordan Fidler from Port Colborne, Ontario picked up another victory in the James’ Auto V6 division.

During hot laps for the 360 Sprint Cars, Liam Martin shattered the track record previously set by Dylan Westbrook. Martin ran around the Thorold, Ontario facility in a time of 13.020 seconds. The previous record was 13.158 seconds.

The Thorold, Ontario facility will be in action on Friday, September 18th and Saturday, September 19th with a doubleheader weekend. The Friday, September 18th program will be streamed live and for free on GForce TV with Operation Green Flag featuring the 360 Sprints, Action Sprint Tour, and a $500 to win Hoosier Stock event. Race time is scheduled for 7:00 pm with GForce’s Greg Calnan, Adam Ross, and Clinton Geoffrey providing coverage. Track co-announcer Jonathon Howe will be heard on the PA system.

Saturday, September 19 will once again feature the 360 Sprints along with the 358 Modifieds in a rare Sprint Car/Modified twin-bill. Joining them are the Hoosier Stocks, Mod Lites, and 4 Cylinders. Showtime is at 7 pm. Fans can watch the Saturday program on Sunday night, September 20th on GForce TV.
