Armed Forces Night & Fab4 Racing Set For Friday At Lernerville Speedway

Story By: GARY HEEMAN / LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY – SARVER, PA – The Fab4 Revved up with Marburger will look to be successful in back to back weeks in their battle with Mother Nature on Friday night. And on the track, the dirt should be flying and the action intense as the second night of the season reveals more of what’s to come in 2019.

We will be saluting our armed service men and women this Friday as well as part of our Armed Forces Night festivities. All active military personnel with proper ID will receive free grandstand admission.

The Peoples Gas DIRTcar Sprints, Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models, Diehl Automotive DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds and Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar/RUSH Pro Stocks will be in action once again. And they’re coming off a very stout opening week performance last Friday that had some dominant performances and late race intrigue.

Brandon Matus kept a strong field of Sprint Cars behind him and never wavered in lapped traffic en route to his first win at The Action Track since the Steel City Stampede in 2015 last Friday. Meanwhile, Russ King came up with a late race pass of defending champion Michael Norris during extended closing laps to secure his first Late Model victory since 2016.

In Modified action, Brian Swartzlander put yet another notch on the career victory post in a hard fought feature win that saw him keep both Russ King Sr. and Jr behind him despite heavy lapped traffic in the waning laps. And in Pro Stock action, six time champion Corey McPherson was the class of the field on opening as he took the lead three laps in and crossed the line ahead of a hard charging Joey Zambotti who had come from the tail of the field after an opening lap incident.

The Lernerville Kids Club will be in action once again this Friday with cupcake and cookie decorating starting at 6:30 PM and afterwards they will lead the crowd in the reciting of the pledge of allegiance. The club meets under the turn four grandstands every Fab4 Friday night and is free for all children. Just a reminder, that the Kids Club will be raffling off bikes later in the season and every meeting the children participate in provides them with an entry into the drawing. The more they attend, the better the chances of being selected.

Fans, remember that tickets for the Dougie Tomson Autism Awareness School Bus Race are now on sale at the speedway office and will be available on race nights at the main ticket window and at the Lernerville Apparel stand. Tickets are $5 each and will enable the holder to enter a drawing to drive in the Touring Bus race or fans may select a substitute driver if they would rather. The drawing will be held on our May 31st Fab4 race night and the race will take place on Wednesday, June 5 as part of our Summer Vacation race night. All proceeds go to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.

Pits will open at 4 PM with grandstands opening 5 PM and racing starting at 7:30 PM sharp. Adult general admission is $15, $12 for seniors, $10 for students ages 11-17. Children 10 and under are admitted FREE on all Fab4 Friday nights!
