RPW Exclusive: Sheppard Earns Back To Back Wins For The Short Track Super Series Diamond State 50 At Delaware

Story By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – DELMAR, DE – It wouldn’t take long for Super Matt Sheppard to claim more and more victories in 2019. Tuesday night at the Delaware International Speedway would be no different.

Starting 7th in the grid for the feature event, Sheppard made quick moves to advance three positions in the first lap. The true battle however would come for the lead as Sheppard remained in the runner up position for a majority of the first half of competition.

The move would come on lap 30 though when Sheppard took the lead from Craig VonDohren and pull away by nearly a 3 second advantage. However even a late race restart wouldn’t deny Sheppard as he would pull away from Strunk and VonDohren and win the Diamond State 50.

This win is a back to back win for Sheppard as he collects his 7th win overall for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series. With this win, Sheppard maintains the Velocita-USA South Series point lead as their next event is May 23, 2019 at the New Egypt Speedway.
