Forecast By: REBECCA LADD / RPW – METEOROLOGIST – Here is the upcoming forecast for this weekend near Upstate New York, so you can plan accordingly.

We have that strong upper level low dropping south and east out of the Great Lakes, along with the developing coastal storms. The coastal will move north along the coast intensifying as it goes. The flow around that upper level low will steer the coastal near the Delmarva peninsula, just east of or over New Jersey tomorrow and then over eastern New York State and western New England.

The western edge of the rain shield will graze western New York State. Areas to the east will see more in the way of rainfall. with most of the rain falling over the Northern Mid Atlantic, New Jersey, eastern half of New York State, and New England.

Saturday night, and Sunday the before mentioned areas, will see tropical like downpours, thunderstorms and gusty winds. This storm is most likely going to be deeper than most of the models are showing. This subtropical storm will bring tropical storm like conditions. Winds of gale force along the coast with tropical storm force winds just east of the center. Areas in New Jersey Southeast New York, Long Island, and western Connecticut could very well have power issues Saturday overnight into Sunday morning.

Other areas could experience power outages, but this is the area I’m most concerned with. Rain fall will be very heavy at times, even over Central and Northern New York State, But especially over Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Eastern New York into New England. It is difficult to know where the most rainfall will be, But General rainfall amounts will be 1-4 inches with higher amounts possible.
