Keith Flach Makes ‘Business’ Decision To Come Off Super DIRTcar Series
Column By: BOBBY CHALMERS / RPW – RAVENA, NY – In a surprise move, Keith Flach and his KFR team has decided to step off the Super DIRTcar Series tour for the time being to concentrate on the family business commitments.
This was a difficult decision for third-generation driver who is coming off back-to-back top five finishes at his two weekly tracks, Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley.
“Due to our work schedule the next couple of weeks, we’re taking some time away from the tour to concentrate on the business,” Flach said. “We missed Thursday night at Land Of Legends Raceway and aren’t going to run Utica-Rome on Sunday. Work has to come first.”
Heading into Sunday’s tour stop in Vernon, Flach currently sits 14th in series points, 57 points behind 10th place runner Stewart Friesen, even with missing Thursday. His decision is in no way a reflection on the team’s performance on the road as much as the fact business needs to take precedent.
“We’ve been going well so far on the tour, but things are just real hectic with work,” he said. “We need to work before we can race.”
If all goes according to plan, the KFR #43 should be back on track after a handful of races, but there’s no guarentees for the team except their local weekend tracks.
“Depending on our work schedule, we may head back out in a few weeks,” he said. “It’s really hard to gauge what things will be like at this point. We can’t say for sure, but we’ll see.”
