Utica-Rome To Host Short Track Super Series ‘Richie Evans Remembered 61’ July 22nd
Story By: CHRIS MOORE / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – VERNON, NY – For the 26th time in the history of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco, a new track will be tamed.
On Thursday, July 22, the STSS Modifieds and Crate 602 Sportsman head to Utica-Rome Speedway, the newest addition to the BD Motorsports Media LLC stable, for the third of four series events to be contested in July.
The ‘Home of Heroes’ will host Round No. 6 of the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply North Region championship chase in the ‘Richie Evans Remembered 61.’
The big-block/small-block Modifieds of the STSS will race for 61 laps around the smooth and fast Route 5-oval with a $6,100 payday up for grabs to the winner and a hefty $610 to take the green flag.
The race remembers one of the greats of Utica-Rome Speedway, as Richie Evans was a 33-time winner in his iconic orange No. 61 at the speedway and was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011.
The Precision Hydraulic & Oil Crate 602 Sportsman North Region will also be in action, as the Sportsman will go 25-laps for a $1,561 payday.
