Big Diamond Speedway Going “Topless” On Spin City Night This Friday

Story By: BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – This Friday night July 16th, Big Diamond Speedway will be going topless as the Insigner Performance Modifieds, the Savage 61 Crate Sportsman and the Limited Late Models will take to the track sans roofs and side panels.

This will be the third time this event has been run in the past four years. Craig Von Dohren won the inaugural event back in 2018 with Ryan Godown winning in 2019. Last year’s race was not run due to COVID-19. This year the Crate Sportsman and the Limited Late Models will join in the fun as they too will both be going without roofs and side panels for the night.

Doing this will give the fans a bird’s eye view of how the drivers manhandle their machines around the track showing them a different perspective for the night.

The Insigner Performance Modifieds will run in a 25-lap feature race paying a cool $3,200 to win with $300 to take the green flag. Last Friday’s race was a thriller with defending modified champion Mike Gular holding off a fast-closing Timmy Buckwalter to take his second win in the last three races. On the strength of another solid top five finish, Duane Howard remains the points leader with Buckwalter moving into second followed by Alex Yankowski, Billy Pauch Jr and newcomer to the top five Nick Rochinski who has been running very strong as of late.

The Limited Late Models return for their second appearance of the season. Travis Mease was the winner in their first appearance of the year back in June. This week the Limited Late Models will join the topless parade as they run 20 laps for a $1,500 first place winners share.

Last Friday night, the Savage 61 Crate 602 Sportsman division saw yet another different winner in 2021 as Tyle Peet dominated the 20-lap feature race for his third career win. This week the Crates will go with the theme of the night and remove the roofs and quarter panels and race 20 laps for $750 to win with $100 to take the green.

Pit Gates will open on Friday night at 5:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM.

Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.

General admission on Friday night will be $20, Kids under 16 are free. Active military are admitted free with a valid ID.
