Short Track Super Series Returning To New Egypt Speedway Tuesday, May 25th

Story By: CHRIS MOORE / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – NEW EGYPT, NJ – The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco returns to New Egypt Speedway for the ‘Dirty Jersey 7’ on Tuesday, May 25.

Race No. 5 of the Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central brings the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds back to the Central New Jersey D-shaped facility.

The 2021 ‘Dirty Jersey’ will be the fourth appearance for the STSS at New Egypt, and the first since August of 2019 when Milford, N.J.’s David Van Horn grabbed his second career STSS triumph.

The Modifieds will race for 50 laps in a $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag in the main event. A total purse structure of $25,170 has been posted prior to special awards and certificates.

Also on the card will be Round No. 4 for the Belmont’s Garage South Region for the Crate 602 Sportsman. They will go for 25 laps for $1,500 to win and $100 to start.

Four Cylinders will round out the tripleheader program under New Egypt Speedway rules.

Mike Mahaney of King Ferry, N.Y., leads the Velocita-USA South Region Modified standings by 12 points over Matt Sheppard (340-328). Anthony Perrego sits third, 40 points behind (300).

A-Jay Potrzebowski II is the Belmont’s Garage Crate 602 Sportsman South Region by 40 points over Joe Toth (257-217). Justin Grosso is third, 51 points back.

For the May 25 event, pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m.

General Admission is $30 for adults and $25 for Seniors (ages 65 and up). Teens (ages 12-15) & Military with ID pay $20. Kids 11 and under get in FREE. Pit Admission is $35.
