Erick Rudolph Turned Up The Heat When It Counted Friday At Bristol; Grabs Hard Charger Award

Story By: TYLER WALKER / ERICK RUDOLPH RACING – BRISTOL, TN – Erick Rudolph started his trip with the Super DIRTcar Series at the clay filled Bristol off slowly, but that didn’t stop his team from working until the checkered flag flew on the 40 lap A-Main Friday night.

Thursday night saw Rudolph mid pack through practice sessions at Bristol Motor Speedway, the same for Time Trials on Friday. With a 9th place finish in Heat Race #2, Erick was forced into the LCQ where he drove up to 2nd and locked himself into the A-Main.

The Motech Enterprises/ BBL Racing, ReVive Spine Center, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY #25R would roll of 23rd on the grid and ultimately drive to an 8th place finish with more in the tank.

I spoke with Erick after the race, he said,

“Honestly this year has been tough, the way it was going at the beginning of the night I didn’t expect to get up that far. My team did a great job getting the car tuned in for the LCQ with the help from the Planck’s at DIG Race Products. I can’t thank my supporters, fans and everyone who plays a part in our operation.”

As we have witnessed time and time again, this team has a desire to be up front. Charlie (Erick’s Father), Chris Murphy and team will be back Sunday afternoon.
