Cold Weather Forces Big Diamond To Postpone Opening Night By One Week

Story By: BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – Due to below normal temperatures and winds, Big Diamond Speedway was forced to postpone Friday’s scheduled opening night.

Promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley thought it was in the best interest of the teams who expressed concern racing in the very cold temps and also the fans who would have attended.

The track has rescheduled their opening night to Friday, April 9th with the same lineup that was scheduled for the original opening night.

Opening night on April 9th will have the Insigner Performance Modfieds racing 25-laps for a winners share of $4,000. The night will also feature the USS Achey Sportsman racing for 20-laps for $1,000 along with the Savage 61 Crate 602 Sportsman going 20-laps for $800. The night will be filled out with the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners.

Gates will open Friday night at 5:00 PM with warmups starting at 7:15 PM. Racing will get underway at 7:45 PM

General admission will be $20, Kids 11-12 $10, Kids 10 and under will be admitted free. Active Military with ID are Free.

With opening night being pushed back a week, Big Diamond has readjusted the schedule for the remainder of April.

Friday, April 16th will now be the annual “Money in the Mountains” race featuring the Modifieds going for $5,000 along with Sportsman, Crate Sportsman and Roadrunners on Tony’s Meat Market Night.

Friday, April 23rd will be the return of the USAC Amsoil Sprints as part of the Eastern Storm. Modifeds and Roadrunners will round out the program.

Friday, April 30th be Insigner Performance Night with the Modifieds, Sportsman, Crate 602 Sportsman and Roadrunner all in action.
