Brett Hearn Eying DIRTcar Nationals At Volusia Speedway Park To Start 2021 Campaign

Story By: JOHN SNYDER / BRETT HEARN RACING – SUSSEX, NJ – With 919 career victories (914 feature races and 5 All-Star events) and 94 track and series point titles on his racing résumé, dirt track Modified champion Brett Hearn will be back behind the wheel of his familiar No. 20 Big-Block DIRTcar Modified for the five-race 2021 DIRTcar Nationals, February 9-13 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida.

For Hearn, who spent four decades as a fulltime race car driver, this is a chance to get back in competition prior to the start of his second season as the Director of Motorsports at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York. “Last year, we had planned to run 12-15 races, but the COVID-19 pandemic cut us back to just nine outing,” said Hearn. “We debuted a new car last fall for the OctoberFast series that showed a lot of promise. So I’m really eager to get back on the track.”

Hearn’s No. 20 Modified will be fielded by a blended team including members from his own BH Racing Enterprises, Inc. operation, long-time partners Madsen Motorsports and 4-Star Racing.

“Our partnership with the Madsen family is at least 16 years young and at least 150 wins, and in some 200 races with 4-Star, we netted 75 victories. We’re all on the same page—racing to win, but now without the pressure of points and track or series championships,“ said Hearn.

Over the years, Hearn has found success at Volusia, having posted 21 victories at the Central Florida half-mile dirt-surfaced speedway. Seven of Hearn’s Volusia victories have been in the extra-distance DIRTcar Nationals finale. He has been the Florida Tour Champion or Co-Champion eight times.

Sponsorship for the Florida races is evolving.

Following the DIRTcar Nationals, Hearn’s remaining 2021 racing schedule will be determined by his and his blended teams’ availability and conditions or restrictions posed by the continued COVID-19 situation.
