The “Diamond Nationals” Return To Big Diamond Speedway October 9th & 10th

Story By: BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – Despite a year that has been turned upside down due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Big Diamond Speedway has had a banner year.

Yes, we might’ve started later than usual but once the season got underway, the support we have received from the drivers, teams and especially the fans has been fantastic.

This weekend at Big Diamond Speedway, promoters Jake & Jasmine Smulley present the return of the “Diamond Nationals” to the speedway that will end the 2020 season.

Night #1 of the 2020 Diamond Nationals sponsored by Red White and Blue Autos gets underway on Friday October 9th with the Insigner Performance Modifieds headlining the night’s activities as they compete in a 30-lap main event paying $4,000 to win.

Rules for the Friday night Modified race: PA/NJ Spec Head Motor only (Gas or Methanol) . PA/NJ Spec Head on gas must weigh a minimum of 2275, PA/NJ Spec Head on Methanol must weigh a minimum of 2350. Modifieds will draw for heats, redraw for the feature.

Also, on Friday night will be the season debut of the Limited Late Models as they will compete in a $1,500 to win feature event with $150 to take the green. Should the field have 25 or more entries the winners share will jump to $2,000 with $200 to take the green. BAPS Speedway Late Model rules will be in effect and this will be a draw event.

The USAC Wingless Sprint cars will make their return to the speedway as part of Friday nights Diamond Nationals night #1 as they compete in a pair of 20-lap feature events. The Wingless Sprints have grown in numbers this season and have put on some of the best races of the 2020 season.

Rounding out the action on night #1 will be the Hellers Gas Street Stock as they look to crown their 2020 track champion. Kody Sites is the current points leader with Jason Geesaman in the second spot.

Gates will open on Friday night at 5:30pm with warmups beginning at 7:00pm. Racing will get underway at 7:30pm.

General admission for Friday is $25, Seniors are $23, Students 11-16 are $10 with kids 10 and under admitted free. Active Military with valid ID are free. Pit admission is $30 for Big Diamond members and $40 for non-members.

Diamond Nationals Day #2

Saturday October 10th will be day #2 of the 2020 Diamond Nationals headlined by a 40-lap Big Block/Small Block Modified feature race paying $5,000 to the winner. The modifieds will follow the rules of the STSS South series (no sail panels). All cars will draw for the heats and there will be a redraw for the feature.

The USS Achey Open Sportsman division along with the Savage 61 Crate 602 division will both race in separate 20-lap main events with each feature paying $1500. Point champions will also be crowned in both division on Saturday night. Saturday night will be a draw/redraw event with all drivers receiving 200 show-up points. Brad Brightbill is your current points leader in the Open Sportsman class with Cody Manmiller leading the way in the Savage 61 Crate division. Big Diamond Speedway sportsman rules will apply for both classes.

Rounding out the show and the season at Big Diamond will be the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners as they compete in a series of four 8-lap feature events. The Roadrunners will be handicapped for the 1st feature with an invert taking place for the remaining three races.

Gates will open on Saturday night at 4:00pm with warmups getting underway at 6:30pm. Racing starts at 7:00pm.

General admission for Saturday is $25, Seniors are $23, Students 11-16 are $10 with kids 10 and under admitted free. Active Military with valid ID are free. Pit admission is $30 for Big Diamond members and $40 for non-members.

Transponders are mandatory for all cars.

Overnight camping is allowed (no hookups) and is free.

There will be no 2 day passes. All reserved seats and parking are in effect.
