RPW Column: Dashes Highlight Third Accord Speedway Practice Session Friday Night

RPW Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – ACCORD, NY – Accord Speedway held their third practice session Friday night.

Track owner, Gary Palmer, spiced things up a bit by holding four Dash Races in the Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinder divisions.

You could tell that the racers welcomed the chance to be in a competitive race again as the dashes were intense.

Joe Judge was victorious in the Modified dash in a close race over Scott Ferrier and Danny Tyler. Mike Formont was the winner the Sportsman.

Jay Smalley was the winner in the Street Stock dash as he edged out Walt Henry and Kyle Welsch in a very close finish. Tim DeGrote took the checkers in the 4 Cylinders.

A young racer got his first taste of a Sportsman car as 3rd generation racer Aidan Elliott got in his first practice laps in the Elliott Motorsports #49. Aidan has had a very successful run in the slingshots, taking a championship at Oakland Valley.

With the guidance of his father Donnie, Aidan is making the transition this season to the bigger cars. Good luck to Aidan and the Elliott Motorsports team, a very nice group of people.

It was great to see the actual racing on the 1/4 mile oval on Friday.
