A New Tradition Has Begun; The Hangover 2.1 To Be Held January 1, 2021 At Utica-Rome

Story By: UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY – VERNON, NY – The 2020 racing season is only a few short months away and Utica-Rome Speedway is quickly wrapping up completing the full schedule racing events while also looking ahead to 2021.

After a successful running on New Year’s Day, the Hangover is returning in to kick-off next season. The Hangover 2.1 Enduro will begin the 2021 racing season at Utica-Rome.

“We were really pleased with last week’s event,” commented speedway owner Bill Shea. “It was a fun way to ring in the New Year. The feedback has been so positive that we have to do it again. We are proud to be able to carry on the tradition of the event. We look forward to having everyone back next winter at Utica-Rome.”

Nearly 80 cars entered the Hangover 2.0 last week. The event was scheduled late in the season giving limited time for preparation. Utica-Rome wanted to give everyone a full year to get ready with hopes of reaching 100 cars for the Hangover 2.1.

Chris Mackey, a weekly DIRTcar Sportsman competitor, outlasted the entire field of racers and fun-seekers to claim the 2020 edition of the race.

The event It is open to 4 and 6 cylinder cars which will be run together in one 100 lap race paying $500 to win. Everyone will start. The lineup is based on car numbers which are assigned at time of registration. Registration will begin at the conclusion of the regular racing season at the Utica-Rome Speedway in October.

In 2021, the event is slated for Friday, January 1.
