New Tradition Begins At Utica-Rome Speedway January 1st With Hangover 2.0 Enduro

Story By: JOHN TIFF / UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY – VERNON, NY – The Utica-Rome Speedway is set to renew a long-time New Year’s Day tradition this January 1st with the return of the Hangover.

The Hangover has a long history of being run on the first day of the year and Utica-Rome Speedway looks to continue that tradition with the speedway’s own version this coming Wednesday afternoon.

The Hangover 2.0 is a 100-lap Enduro featuring a combination of 4 and 6-cylinder cars. The race will run caution free with the winner receiving a $500 payday. If more than 75 cars register second and third place will also be guaranteed purse money. Currently second is guaranteed a minimum of $100 courtesy of the Empire Super Sprints and the Super DIRTcar Series.

As part of the Hangover 2.0, Loren Fish will be the honorary starter for the event. Fish presented the idea of running the first Hangover at the Ransomville Speedway when it was under the direction of the Friesen family back in the year 2000. Utica-Rome Speedway is excited to have him as a part of Wednesday’s event.

Car registration is underway and the form is available on the Utica-Rome Speedway website. Registrations received before race day are just $45 and include the driver’s pit pass. Registration the day of is $50 while also purchasing a pit pass. To register call 716-799-5669.
Currently over 60 cars have registered, including several Utica-Rome Speedway weekly racers.

On Tuesday night the Utica-Rome Speedway is also hosting a New Year’s Eve party at the Speedway Club located on the speedway grounds. The party will kick-off at 7pm with drinks and food available all evening long. Come ring in the New Year at Utica-Rome Speedway.

The grandstands admission price for this event is $5 for everyone 12 and older. Pit prices for the event are $20. Pit gates will open at 8:30am while spectator gates open at 11am. Racing starts at 12pm.
