DIRT Legal 358-Mod Class To Replace Open Sportsman For 2020 At Thunder Mountain
Information By: THUNDER MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY – CENTER LISLE, NY – The 2019 season at Thunder Mountain Speedway has come to a close and we want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. It’s no secret that we have the most amazing fans, drivers and sponsors so thank you!
Improvements continue at the speedway and new clay will be brought in prior to winter. Plans for the banquet are underway and a date will be announced very soon.
Planning for the future –
The 2020 race season at Thunder Mountain Speedway will feature six classes of racing. The mighty modified will continue to headline along with 602 crate sportsman, 600cc modified, street stock, rookie sportsman and a new dirt legal 358 modified class which will replace the open sportsman.
In an effort to aid in the transition of the class we will allow the open sportsman to compete in the 358 modified class for a period of one year. More to come on this.
Due to low car counts we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the IMCA and 4cylinder classes going forward. A big thank you to those who supported us. We hope that you will find a home with one of our six divisions next season.
A complete list of rules will be available in the coming weeks. We will be stepping up our tech game for all classes in 2020.
We hope your winter is filled with family, friends and race car prep! We can’t wait to welcome you back in 2020.
