Points Battles Taking Shape At Lernerville Speedway; Autism Awareness Night Friday

Story By: GARY HEEMAN / LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY – SARVER, PA – The 2019 points battles are starting to take shape as the first three nights of racing are in the books. And on Friday night, those points battles will become even more intriguing as it will be another Fab4 Friday night Revved up with Marburger.

The Peoples Gas DIRTcar Sprints, Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models, Diehl Automotive Big Block Modifieds and Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar/RUSH Pro Stocks will all be in action to the delight of fans in attendance.

Sye Lynch leads the Sprints into battle this week on the strength of a week two victories and two other top five finishes. Only seven points back lurks defending champion AJ Flick who is coming off his first Action Track victory of the season last week while Ralph Spithaler has seen some results go his way en route to a third place position.

In the Late Models, former two-time track champion Jared Miley finds himself atop the standings on the strength of three consecutive top five finishes. However, just three points back is Tommy Beck who has looked strong out of the chute thus far this season. Veteran wheel man Kenny Schaltenbrand rounds out the podium just seven points back of the lead and is coming off a second place performance last Friday that saw him hold off Miley in a thrilling battle to the finish.
Brian Swartzlander has been extremely fast to start the 2019 campaign picking up win on May 17 and has been in position to win the other two main events. Week one and week three winners, Rex King Jr. and Garrett Krummert remain less than 12 points back and will look to play a role in determining this year’s championship in what promises to be a points battle to watch the whole season.

Speaking of points battles to watch, it doesn’t get much better than the Pro Stocks at the start of the season as the red hot Joey Zambotti has bolted out to the early lead with one feature win. However, he’s being chased by three drivers who are within four markers of the lead as defending champion Corey McPherson, last year’s runner up Tyler Dietz, and a surging Ryan Moyer are ready to strike every Friday.

Off the track on Friday, it’s our Annual Autism Awareness night! We will be having a wide assortment of raffle baskets including autographed checkered flags and tshirts, golf bags, steaks, gift cards and much more. All proceeds will go to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh. And, we will be pulling the winning numbers for the drivers in our upcoming Dougie Tomson Autism Awareness Bus Race which will be part of our festivities on our Summer Vacation School Bus Race night Wednesday, July 5.
