Mother Nature Gets Another at Merrittville

Story By: STEVE PETTY / MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY – THOROLD, ONT. CA – Strong winds and thunderstorms that came through the Niagara region just after 6 pm forced Merrittville Speedway management to pull the plug and washout the racing program on Saturday night.

“While looking at the forecast throughout the day, it appeared that we were going to get CAA Niagara Night completed but with the high winds and heavy thunderstorms that came in after 6 pm, we canceled the racing program”, comments Merrittville Speedway’s Don Spiece.

CAA Niagara night would be headlined by the first race of the King of the Crates for the David Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman.

The Thorold Jr Blackhawks 50/50 number that was drawn was no. 5406. Contact the speedway office if that was your ticket.

Fans are encouraged to keep their ticket stubs for admission for next Saturday night. Drivers and crews in the pits are encouraged to keep their wristbands for entry next Saturday night.
