Merrittville Speedway Hosts Pre-Season Test; Spring Sizzler Next Saturday

Story By: STEVEN PETTY / MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY – THOROLD, ONT – Merrittville Speedway hosted their annual practice session on Saturday afternoon. 11 divisions were represented that saw nearly 90 cars take part.

Not only did the test and tune session bring out the cars and stars of racing throughout Southern Ontario and Western New York, it brought out the hearty race fans that wanted to see the cars on the track for the first time since September 2018 under windy and cool conditions.

Divisions represented included wingless sprint cars, crate sprints, 360 Sprints, Crate Late Models, 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, 4 Cylinders, Pro 4 Trucks, V6 and Vintage. All divisions that took part of the annual test and tune session will be competing at Merrittville throughout the 2019 season.

Merrittville Speedway opens for their 68th season on Saturday, April 20 as Garrison Automotive presents the Spring Sizzler featuring the Southern Ontario Sprints, 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, and 4 Cylinders. That day will also see an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids with a bike giveaway. 68 bikes and counting will be given away to the kids as part of the Easter Egg Hunt.

Pit gates will open at 5 pm with grandstand gates opening at 5:30 pm and the first green flag of the season will fall at 7 pm.
