RPW Exclusive: Jake Spraker Racing Stepping Away From Big Block Competition In 2019
Column By: RAY ROGERS / RACE PRO WEEKLY – GLOVERSVILLE, NY – On Monday Ray Rogers, Race Pro Weekly Columnist, spoke with Jake Spraker, owner of the 1J piloted by Rocky Warner. The decision has been made for the team to step back from Big Block Modified competition for the 2019 race season.
“Rocky wants to race more and with the way the schedule is this year with Fonda it just makes more sense for us to go 602 (Crate Sportsman) racing this season,” Jake Spraker said in a phone interview Monday. He went on to say, “We plan to run at Albany Saratoga on Fridays, Fonda on Saturday, and possibly Utica on Sunday. We will also be racing the KOD series and most GRIT races ”
Last season Rocky Warner scored his first modified win at Fonda in the 1J and also finishing a strong fourth in the final points tally. Rocky’s Sportsman stats speak for themselves and this news will surely shake up the 602 Sportsman Modified ranks all over the northeast, especially at the local tracks the 1J team plans to run regularly. But as of now, the Jake Spraker 1j will competing in the Sportsman division weekly.
