RPW Column: Time To Go Back In Time With The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Mod Opener At Fonda

Column By: RAY ROGERS / RPW – FONDA, NY – The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series (MVVDMS) kicks off their 2021 season at the Fonda Speedway this weekend.

In keeping racing’s history alive, the series returns to the Track of Champions as part of this Saturday’s Montgomery County Open. If you’re a fan of vintage racing or just a fan interested in seeing how the old-timers did it, this is for you.

The MVVDMS has a little bit of everything…from Coupes to Coaches, Mustangs to Gremlins and some Vegas, taking you back in time with four divisions of racing.

Also on Saturday, the series will hold its 2020 awards ceremony at the Speedway’s Museum. The event will take place at 1pm. Vintage drivers and car owners attending the ceremonies are asked to arrive at the track between 12:30-12:45pm. They will be parking trailers in the infield prior to activities at the museum.

Saturday kicks of another great Vintage season, bringing racing’s rich history to another generation of race fans. Over 35 Vintage racers will take to the historic half-mile this weekend.

On the card will be Vintage Antiques for a 12-lap feature, the Vintage Sportsman who will start the season with a 15-lap affair and the popular Vintage Replica Modifieds and Vintage Late Models who will also run a 15-lap feature.

Saturday’s weather is looking great so come join in for the Fonda Vintage Spring Fling opener. Speedway gates open at 3pm with hot laps set to roll at 5:30pm. Racing is set for 6:30pm.

Grandstand admission is $20 (Adults); $18 Seniors (ages 65 and up); Kids 11 and under FREE.Pit Admission is $35 (Fonda Members); $40 (Non-Members).FR
