Four Cash Awards To Be Offered At Oct. 27 Port Royal Tuscarora 50; Hodnett Benefit Auction Details

Story By: SHAWN BROUSE / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – Four special awards are in line to be handed out at the upcoming October 27, 51st annual $51,000 to win Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway.

The total of all four awards is worth a minimum of $1,700, thanks to Jeremy Elliott of Sprintcarunlimited.com and fans Jason Bergstresser, Jon Snyder and the Will Gamble family.

Elliott will present $500 as the Sprintcarunlimited.com Fast Time Award to the overall fast qualifier in Saturday’s prestigious 51st annual event, sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series.

In memory of his late father Bob Bergstresser, Jason Bergstresser of Lewistown will offer a minimum of $500 as the Tuscarora 50 Hard Charger Award.

Jon Snyder of Dauphin will offer the Tuscarora 50 Lucas Snyder Tough Luck Award to the final finisher in the main event worth a minimum of $200, in honor of his late son.

And for the 20th year in a row, the family and friends of the late Will Gamble of Port Royal will present the Will Gamble Determination Award, this year amounting to $500.

Following the determination of all feature starters in the T50 including any provisionals, the highest non-qualifying Port Royal regular will receive the Gamble award.

Presented by Ramsey’s Garage & Car Wash of Mifflintown as well as Packer’s Concessions of Centre Hall, the track marquee Tuscarora 50 event will conclude the 2018 racing season at Port Royal Speedway..

Port Royal Speedway’s season will climax October 26 and 27 when the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series invades for a two-day stand.

Friday’s program features the outlaws in the Nittany Showdown paying $8,000 to win while Saturday will feature the 51st annual Tuscarora 50 paying $51,000 to win out of a total purse worth more than $107,000.

Pre-Tuscarora 50 Hodnett Benefit Auction Slated For Oct. 27 At 1pm

A special benefit auction of racing memorabilia and race car equipment will take place on Saturday, October 27 at 1 pm, prior to the running of the 51st annual Tuscarora 50 for sprint cars at Port Royal Speedway.

All proceeds from the benefit auction will go to Sherry Hodnett, the widow of Greg Hodnett.

The auction will take place in the speedway commercial building, beginning at 1 pm, rain or shine.

Among the items already on the auction block are Kyle Larson autographed NASCAR side panels, along with wing panels from Brad Sweet’s World of Outlaws sprint car. Car parts from the Greg Hodnett-driven No. 27 sprint car will also be up for grabs along with photographs, jack stands and many more items.

A collection of items from off of the World of Outlaws tour has been gathered for the auction.

A special corn hole tournament benefiting Sherry Hodnett will also be held in the commercial building on October 27, getting underway at approximately 10 am.
