Sprint Car Spectacular On Tap Friday Night At The Lernerville Speedway

Story By: GARY HEEMAN / LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY – SARVER, PA – Friday night under the lights at Lernerville doesn’t just stop with Championship Night in 2018! The postseason slate of racing kicks off this Friday night as our Inaugural Sprint Car Spectacular will grace the clay in a five division program featuring Sprints of the winged and wingless variety and some Modifieds thrown in for good measure.

The Peoples Gas DIRTcar Sprints take center stage on Friday night where they’ll be joined by the Allegheny Sprint Tour 305 RaceSaver Sprints, RUSH Sprint Cars, RUSH Sportsman Modifieds while the 270cc Micro Sprints make their debut at Lernerville.

PEOPLES GAS SPRINTS SET FOR ENCORE PERFORMANCE

They’ve delighted fans in attendance with some of the most thrilling racing action and highest car counts in 2018, and they’re ready to throw down one more time before the area special events crank up! Newly crowned three time champion AJ Flick, who managed five wins on the season will look for his sixth appearance in Terry Bowser Excavating Victory Lane while 2018 runner up and 2016 champion Jack Sodeman Jr., George Hobaugh, Dan Shetler, Brandon Matus, and perhaps several invaders will be looking for the win and perhaps some additional seat time in preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Clash for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars on Saturday, September 22.

TIGHT POINTS BATTLE WILL BE DECIDED AT LERNERVILLE FOR ALLEGHENY SPRINTS

With just eight points separating the top three in points in Allegheny Sprint Tour action and all three remaining events at Lernerville, the championship will be decided at The Action Track in 2018 and the run to the title starts this Friday. Greg Dobrosky leads Jonathan Jones, Vinny Dougherty, and Drew Ritchey coming into battle on Friday. Dobrosky has managed two wins in his last three races at Lernerville while Jonathon Jones found Victory Lane in 2017 at the Annual Autumn-Motive Fest.

RUHLMAN AND RUTH HAVE A LOT ON THE LINE

Coming into Friday night, Gale Ruth Jr. Arnie Kent, Zach Morrow and Chad Ruhlman have all managed to take feature wins with us this year in RUSH Sprint Car action, with Ruth managing three wins. Ruhlman is the Bonnell’s Rod Shop RUSH Sprint Car Series Points leader heading into action on Friday night with Ruth trailing by 25 markers.

For Ruth, a fourth Lernerville win would help him tighten up the points battle with Ruhlman heading into the final stretch run while Kent and Morrow will be looking for their second wins of the season and to improve their position in the standings. The RUSH Sprints will see The Action Track two more times in 2018, first as part of the RK Virgile Mayhem Series on Wednesday, September 19 and then as part of the Annual Steel City Stampede in October.

WOLBERT BRINGS HOT HAND INTO FRIDAY

Chas Wolbert has been on a tear recently at Sharon Speedway in RUSH Sportsman Modified action, winning four main events in a row. And while he’ll be one to watch on Friday night, he’ll be up against some stout competition which may include Sharon track champion and Lernerville Big Block Modified competitor Garrett Krummert, 2017 Stampede winner Rocky Kugel and Kole Holden who has multiple Lernerville feature wins.

MICROS MAKE DEBUT

The 270cc Micro Sprints will make their debut on Friday night and if the speed unveiled on a recent Test and Tune session is any indicator, fans are in for a very entertaining way to round out the evening’s racing action. Cars from all over the area are expected to attend on Friday night, and they’ll also be in the lineup as part of our Steel City Stampede in October.

Pits will open at 4 PM on Friday night with grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing starting at 7:30 PM sharp. Adult general admission is $15, $12 for seniors, $10 for students ages 11-17 and children 10 and under are admitted free. Pit passes will be available for $25 for DIRTcar Members and $30 for Non-Members.
