RPW Exclusive: The Weather Forecast For Upstate New York This Weekend (August 10-12)
Forecast By: REBECCA LADD / RPW – METEOROLOGIST – Here is the upcoming forecast for this weekend near Upstate New York, so you can plan accordingly.
We have a stationary front down in the Carolinas. Also we have low pressure with the weak cold front over New York State and New England. This front is slowly dropping south and east. For the weekend high pressure will be sitting over New England. This cold front will stall and an area of low pressure will slowly move along the frontal boundary. Bringing rain and thunderstorms to the region.
Those north of the front will see low humidity and relatively dry conditions, there could be a few isolated showers over the weekend, but the vast majority will see no rain over the weekend. The same won’t be case for those closer and south of the boundary. They will see humidity and wet conditions over the weekend into next week. Rain could be heavy at times for Saturday and Sunday. The humidity will slide north starting Sunday.
The upper level low over Tennessee, this will slowly slide north and east into the Middle Atlantic, then Sunday another upper level feature will form in the Ohio Valley, this too will slowly slide east across Pennsylvania into the Middle Atlantic. As we’ve seen for the last few weeks, this too will be a slow moving system. Rain will be heavy at times . But I do expect to see some dry periods too.
Those in Pennsylvania, Middle Atlantic into Southern into Central New England will see plenty of rain over the next 7 days. Those North of I 90 and across Northern New England once again won’t see much in the way of Rainfall, while the same general areas that have been seeing the rain will continue to do the same. There will be the risk for flash flooding across Pennsylvania, Middle Atlantic, into New England.
The entire Northeast will see widespread rain Monday into Wednesday.
