Chad Homan Scores Second Late Model Win at New Humberstone

Story By: STEVE PETTY / NEW HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY – PORT COLBORNE, ONT – Macedon, NY’s Chad Homan won his second Pro Fabrication RUSH Late Model feature event of the 2018 season on Archer’s Truck Service Night at the New Humberstone Speedway. For Homan, it was his 10th Humberstone triumph since June of 2016.

Pete Reid from Stevensville, Ontario won the second home race for the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt and his first win of the season in the JC Auto Thunder Stocks. Rob Goulding from Port Colborne, Ontario crossed the line first in the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks feature event, however, the top three finishers were all disqualified following post-race technical inspection. Dylan Llord from St. Catharines, Ontario won his second feature of the season in the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks.

Derek VanMil and Chris Storm set the pace in the 25-lap feature go for the Harvey’s/Swiss Chalet DIRTcar Sportsman with fourth-place starter Brad Rouse quickly taking over the lead at the end of lap one. The caution would fly on lap two as Derek Van Mil and Justin Sharp got hooked together in turn three. With track conditions not being favorable for the drivers, their equipment, and the fans, Humberstone management made the decision to postpone the remaining 23-circuits in the Sportsman feature. The date of when the Sportsman feature will be completed will be announced on the Speedway’s social media accounts and humberstonespeedway.com Qualifying heat races went to Brad Rouse, Jay Mallory, and Greg Panunte.

“Kid Kool” David Pangrazio and defending track champion Chad Homan shared the front row for the Pro Fabrication RUSH Late Models feature with Homan getting the lead to complete lap number one. Homan would pull away after a lap one restart as Pangrazio was holding off the early race advances of Sam Pennacchio and Rob Pietz. Pennacchio would complete the pass on Pangrazio to move into second place on lap five. By the races halfway point, Homan would lead Pennacchio by over a full straightaway. Homan would pull away to earn his second victory of the season. Pennacchio, Rob Pietz, Pangrazio, and Jeff Dayman would complete the top five.

Veterans Jim Lampman and Barry Beck Jr brought the field of JC Auto Thunder Stocks to the green flag for their second home race as part of the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt with Lampman jumping into the lead early on. “The Crazy Alien” Pete Reid would take over the lead at the end of lap one. Jason Fontaine would pass Lampman to take over second as Kyle Pelrine would challenge Lampman for third. Two separate three-car battles occurred behind race leader Pete Reid as Fontaine, Lampman, and Pelrine battled for second with Billy Bleich Jr, Dave Bailey, and Ken Sargent battled for fifth. Reid would go on to score the victory, his first of the season.

Rob Goulding and Jeremy Cooper led the field of Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks to the green flag for their main event and it was Goulding in the lead. Goulding was behind the wheel of the Jay Moulton #10 entry for the evening. Tyler Lafantaisie would take second away from Cooper on lap five. Dan McKay would spin in turn three to bring out the races first caution on lap seven. Off the restart, Goulding and Lafantaisie would pull away from third-place runner Sean Iftody. The lead duo would continue to pull away from the field in the late stages with Lafantaisie looking underneath Goulding for the lead, as Olivier Larocque would move into third place and quickly chase down the top two. Goulding would hold off Lafantaisie to grab the win. After a technical review, the top three finishers, Goulding, Lafantaisie, and Larocque were all disqualified.

Dylan Llord and Craig Vlasic brought the field of Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks to the green flag for their feature event with Vlasic jumping into the lead. Mitch Dumont got around his SOS teammate Llord to take over the second spot on lap two. Llord would be able to regain the runner-up spot with two laps remaining, just as Vlasic hit lap traffic. Llord was able to use the lapped truck as a pick and was able to get around Vlasic and would go on to score his second win of the season.
