The Weather Forecast For Upstate New York This Weekend (May 11-13)

Forecast By: REBECCA LADD / RPW – METEOROLOGIST – Here is the upcoming forecast for this weekend near Upstate New York, so you can plan accordingly.

Friday:

The cold front that brought the rain on Thursday, has moved through. Friday will be a nice day overall and typical of what we expect for mid May. Friday will be seasonally cool but conditions will be dry with plenty of sunshine Friday night, we will see a warm front start to push in from the southwest.

Saturday:

Saturday, will be unsettled. The front will have a hard time pushing north. How far north it will get is a little unsure. Right now, it looks to stall Saturday morning over Central Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. A low riding along this front will give us another round of rain and thunderstorms for our Saturday.

This will be especially true for those north of I-80, the northern tier of Pennsylvania, New York State and New England will deal with showers. Those south of I 80 will have the best chance of seeing 70’s into the 80’s, Parts of Maryland and Delaware could get close to 90. At the same time areas to the north of I 80 will be in the 50’s and 60’s. Then during the afternoon into Saturday evening the front will sag to the south as a cold front.

As the cold front moves into that warmer unstable air there will be a risk for thunderstorms. Some of the storms Saturday night could be on the strong to severe side. Damaging winds, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and hail, would be the biggest dangers.

Sunday:

Mothers Day: southern New York State and southern New England, and the northern tier of Pennsylvania could see a few isolated showers Sunday morning. But things will clear by late morning and the afternoon. Some of the models are slowing the timing of the front down. But for now, the rest of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, into the Middle Atlantic it will be cooler and damp with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Next week is looking wet overall.
