The Weather Forecast For Upstate New York This Weekend (June 1-3)

Forecast By: REBECCA LADD / RPW – METEOROLOGIST – Here is the upcoming forecast for this weekend near Upstate New York, so you can plan accordingly.

Friday:

The setup will allow for storms to popup during the afternoon and evening. A cold front will be dropping south and east out of Canada. Tropical moisture from the remnants of Alberto will merge with the cold front These thunderstorms would be scattered. would be scattered. Any thunderstorms that do form could produce heavy downpours. Dewpoints will be in the mid to upper 60’s.

After 3:00 PM, we should see a couple broken lines of storms move across western New York State and western into central Pennsylvania. These will work their way east and south during the afternoon and evening. We will see an area of low pressure stall along the coast for the weekend.

Saturday:

The cold front will be south of northern New York and northern New England Saturday morning. So northern areas should be dry on Saturday. Across the rest of New York State the showers will linger into the morning, with clearing trying to develop in the afternoon. Southern New England will see scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms during the morning and early afternoon, The showers and storms should lessen during mid to late afternoon. Across New York and New England behind the front will see the dew points drop into the 50’s . Some of these thunderstorms could be on the strong side.

Sunday, looks to be dry across New York State and New England.

For Pennsylvania and the Middle Atlantic:

A warm front will lift north through Pennsylvania and the northern Mid Atlantic on Thursday, This will make showers and thunderstorms likely for Thursday. Any storms that form will have a chance for heavier tropical type downpours. Behind the warm front dew points will rise into the upper 60’s to low 70’s. These will make for an uncomfortable evening and night.

Friday will be very warm and muggy, dew points will be in the 70’s. But the threat for showers and thunderstorms will be a bit less than they were for Thursday. But there will still be a chance for scattered showers and storms, especially during the afternoon and evening.

Saturday will see the cold front slowly approach. There will be scattered showers and thunderstorms developing ahead of the cold front these will move east and south. The cold front looks to move into Central/southern Pennsylvania and the Mid Atlantic. The front will stall, and we will see an area of low pressure develop. This low pressure will become cutoff, and will stall off the Coast for the 2nd half of the weekend into early next week.

Sunday, the risk for severe weather will be low, but with the tropical moisture moving along the boundary and that cut off low. scattered showers and thunderstorms will again be an issue. Tropical downpours could lead to flooding and flash flood problems, this will be especially true for southern Pennsylvania and the Mid Atlantic region.

Monday and Tuesday are also looking wet for the entire Northeast.
