Empire Super Sprints Heading North Of The Border This Weekend

Story By: DEAN REYNOLDS / EMPIRE SUPER SPRINTS – SYRACUSE, NY – This weekend the traveling road show for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) heads to Canada for the first time in 2018 for three big events. Its Autodrome’s Granby and Drummond on Friday and Saturday with a visit to the Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday night.

This will be the most lucrative full point weekend on the tour with the two shows in Quebec paying $2,000 to win and $500 just to start. At Cornwall, the teams will vie for a $2,000 to win, $325 to start purse. These will be the first three events on the 1000 Islands RV Centre Canada Tour and in Quebec the Fondations 4 Saisons Quebec Series kicks off as well.

Jason Barney is out defending his 2017 championship by leading the points after the first four events. Coleman Gulick has put himself in striking distance so far in the early stages. Matt Billings, Billy VanInwegen and Paulie Colagiovanni round out the top five in points and all are heading north.

Other Americans looking to make the tow are Matt Tanner, Paul Kinney, Mike Mahaney, Shawn Donath, Brett Wright, Jeff Cook, Chad Miller, Dave Axton, Parker Evans, Kelly Hebing, Josh Flint, Dan Douville, Dylan Swiernik, Scott Holcomb, Clay Dow and more.

The Quebec teams looking to defend the home turf will be lead by seven-time ESS champion Steve Poirier, past champion Alain Bergeron, Alex Vigneault, Dale Gosselin, Jordan Poirier and Yan Bilodeau. Fans can also expect Chris Jones, Tyler Rand and Paul Pekkonen from Ontario.
