Story By: ANTHONY CORINI / TYLER BEAR RACING – ELLIOTTSBURG, PA – Tyler Bear has improved every time he has hit the track thus far in 2017 and finally got some results to show for it Saturday night at Port Royal. Bear was 8th quick in time trials in a talented field of 30 cars. “We had a good night and were actually doing well in the feature, but we started to get loose and faded towards the end,” said Bear in regards to his night. Bear was officially scored 14th at Port Royal.

This weekend Bear, 25, shifts his attention to the Sprint Car Capital of the World as he tackles the Knoxville Raceway for their season opener. “I’m pumped. It’s going to be a great experience. I know some people might not think we’re going to be competitive, but that’s our goal, start competing for top 10’s and top 5’s in that extremely talented field of drivers.” Regardless, Bear will improve throughout the season both in Iowa and back at home. There is no limit on how much the experience will improve him down the road.

“This is only my 3rd year in 410’s and I’m just a low-budget racer in Pennsylvania and I get to race at Knoxville this year. That is surreal. I can’t thank Mike VanderEcken enough,” Bear explained. And in reality, he’s right. Bear attended last year’s 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals as a spectator and knew at some point he had to get out there to race. I don’t think anyone thought it would be this early in my career.

Par for the season across the country, the weather in Iowa looks skeptical and Bear will make a call on whether or not he will head west or not. If the forecast continues to worsen, Bear may stay local and head to Knoxville the following weekend. Stay tuned for final updates on Bear’s status for the weekend.

None of this would be possible for Bear without the continued support of: VFW Post 34, VanderEcken Motorsports, Bossinger’s Firewood and Lumber, Perry Auto Collision, Sections Salon, Justin Snyder Racing, Fultz Excavating and Beerhill Gang.

Bear continually to these partners as family rather than sponsors and is thankful for each and every one of them that help him get his car to the track on a weekly basis.
