Kaeding Puts On Show During First Race With Lunstra Motorsports
Story By: LUNSTRA MOTORSPORTS – SAN JOSE, CA – Kicking his 2017 season off with the World of Outlaws in California during the month of March, Tim Kaeding reunited with Lunstra Motorsports on Saturday night and got the team’s season kicked off in thrilling fashion.
“We had a pretty good night minus one little hiccup that was my fault,” Kaeding said. “We had an extremely fast racecar, and we were able to march through the field nicely.”
Taking on the IRA at the 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA, Kaeding would open the night up by timing the Folkens Bros. Trucking/Dammer Trucking/Mihm Trucking backed No. 3 machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Finishing third in his heat race, the San Jose, CA native would advance to the feature event where he would line up in the eighth spot. When the race came to life, Kaeding would have his aforementioned issues and be forced to the rear of the field.
From the back, all eyes were on the exciting Kaeding as he would begin a memorable charge through the field. Mired in thick traffic, Kaeding would have his elbows up and simply go where the others weren’t as he clawed his way forward.
Getting by drivers like Austin McCarl, Scotty Thiel, and Brad Loyet, Kaeding would find himself in the Top-Five late in the 30-lap feature event.
Making a couple more moves before the checkered flag flew, TK would bring his night to a close with a third place finish.
“We had a brake line come off on the start of the feature, and it forced us to the back,” Kaeding said. “Other than that it was a pretty fun night with this team, and I am extremely thankful to have an opportunity to race in the Midwest again with Dave Lunstra.”
The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, East River Homes, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2017.
