Story By: STEVEN OVENS / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – One week after offering a $1,000 winner’s check for the debut of the Crate Late Models, the Crate Sportsman Modifieds will take center stage this week presented by Lias Tire and Insinger Performance.

Lias Tire is the Northeast distributor of American Racer Tires and is the official tire supplier of the Woodhull Raceway. Located in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Lias Tire has already had a big presence with Woodhull in 2017.

Dustin Leverknight with Lias Tire was on hand to talk to drivers and team owners during the Arnot Mall Car Show several weeks ago. The American Racer Cup program also announced recently that Woodhull Raceway’s Short Track Super Series date would double as an American Racer Cup Challenge event- offering bonus points to those competing in the ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks’ on August 22.

Insinger Performance, headquartered in Dushore, Pennsylvania, has been a faithful returning sponsor of Woodhull’s premier 370 Modified division with their Sunoco Race Fuels. Sunoco is the official race fuel of Woodhull Raceway, which is available for purchase each and every week right at the racetrack.

After a stout field of twenty-five cars filled out the Woodhull pit area last week on Opening Night, a larger field is expected for this week’s extra distance, enhanced purse show.

Last season, Chris Daugherty used a $1,000 win in April to propel him to the NAPA Crate Sportsman track championship. Daugherty will be participating in the 370 Modified division this season, but with the Modifieds not starting until next week, Daugherty will be racing against his son Jeffery and the rest of the competition this Saturday night.

Stacey Jackson and Tim Guild showed the fast way around ‘New York’s Toughest Bullring’ last Saturday night. Guild made Jackson earn every inch of the way, as he was just waiting for one opportunity to pounce in his RealtyUSA.com No. 06.

All Crate Sportsman drivers who attempt to qualify on Saturday night will receive 25 show up points. Regular points for this division will start on April 29.

The Crate Late Models will also compete in a $700-to-win, $75-to-start event that will be a non-points show. This is different than what was originally printed in the post-race report from the past weekend. The management and PR team apologizes for any confusion.

The regular points season will begin on Saturday for the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives, Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Warriors and the Hobby Stocks.

The Insinger Performance 370 Modified division will be off again this week, with their season opener scheduled for Saturday April 29. There will be hot laps available for any interested Modified teams on Saturday during hot laps and after racing is complete due to the cancellation of Open Practice two weekends ago.

The pit gates will swing open at 3:30 with pit passes being set at $25.00. General Admission gates will open at 4:30 with Woodhull’s $1 off early bird special until 5:30. General Admission is $11.00 for ages 13 and up, Seniors 65+ $6.00, ages 8-12 $6.00 and children 7 and under being admitted FREE.

Season passes are still available as well located behind the main tower. General Admission season passes are $220, Senior Season Passes $140 and Season Pit Passes are $450. Fans can also purchase reserved seating for 2017 at the same location as season passes.
