Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Speedway title contender Dave Gruel will seek multiple championship crowns in 2017, as the driver of the Gruel Racing No. 50 Supermodified aims to chase the Shea Concrete Triple Crown Championship Series presented by ASI Racewear.

A year ago Gruel finished second to Michael Barnes in the Oswego Speedway track championship by a mere 7.5 points and a handful of laps despite scoring an impressive 11 top ten finishes.

A seven year veteran of Supermodified racing, Gruel has visited Oswego victory lane five times in Supermodified competition while also scoring the 2009 Small Block Super championship.

One of those Oswego victories came in ISMA winged action back in 2012 when Gruel raced to the King of Wings title driving for veteran owner Steve Miller in the Sweet 16.

Gruel will now look to take on both legs of the TCCS driving for the Bentley Warren Driver of the Year championship as well as entering his Oswego machine into the Jim Shampine Supermodified of the Year championship.

The TCCS will see five non-wing Supermodified events at Oswego Speedway and five wing events on the ISMA tour including races at Lancaster Speedway, Stafford Speedway, Sandusky Speedway, and Star Speedway.

About the TCCS: The Triple Crown Championship Series of Supermodified Racing, a promotional Supermodified series, was formed by Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions in conjunction with Oswego Speedway and the International Supermodified Association. The 10-race joint venture, which helps to provide bonus money for Supermodified drivers and owners, would not be possible without the support of Shea Concrete Products, ASI Racewear, A&P Automotive, Burke’s Do-It-Best Home Centers as well as the support and dedication of the participating TCCS race teams and the loyal Supermodified fan base.
