Story By: STEVE PETTY / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – The fans that were on hand at the Ransomville Speedway car show at the Fashion Outlets were introduced to the 2017 Miss Ransomville, Emily Buzzard.

Emily grew up around the speedway cheering on her father Steven Buzzard, and now her brother-in-law Ryan Hoolihan. Emily has always wanted to give back to the place that gave her so many fond memories and she is glad that she now has that opportunity as Miss Ransomville. “I am ecstatic to hold this position and can’t wait for the season to begin” says 2017 Miss Ransomville Emily Buzzard. Emily is a Junior at Daemen College pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. After graduation, Emily plans on attending graduate school to obtain her Master’s in Social Work. While at Daemen, Emily is the President of the Daemen College Honors Program and Vice President of the Social Work Alliance. She has also received the honor of being named one of Daemen’s Trustee Scholars. Emily is a graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School.

Although she just received the title of Miss Ransomville, Emily feels like she’s been a part of the speedway family for a long time.

Alexis Morris was named runner-up and she will also be promoting the speedway at events throughout the season. Alexis is a teacher at Imagination Station and studied Early Childhood Education at Niagara County Community College. Like Emily, Alexis has been attending the action at the “Big R” ever since she was a baby. Between watching her dad Alex and boyfriend Brian Monahan race, Alexis has seen it all at Ransomville. “I hope the best for all the drivers this year and hope that we all have a great year” says Alexis Morris. “Being able to help Emily be Miss Ransomville is going to be such a great opportunity and a great experience” Alexis added.

“We are pleased to have Emily be Miss Ransomville and have Alexis as well” stated Ransomville General Manager Jenn Martin. “I would like to say a huge thank you to the judges and for the crowd that was on hand supporting all of our contestants this year” Martin added. “I would also like to thank all the drivers that supported the car show and came out for the autograph session” Martin said.

Ransomville Speedway would like to welcome both Emily and Alexis. Their first race of the season will be during the Test, Tune and Time session presented by VP Racing Fuels on Friday April 28th with the 60th Season Opener set for Friday May 5th.
