It’s Crunch Time As Big Block Modified Drivers Battle To Make OCFS’ Final Four For The Track Title

Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – Tension mounts as just two race meets remaining to determine the “Final Four” who will battle for the 2021 United Rentals Big-Block Modified Championship at Orange County Fair Speedway.

That puts pressure on seven of the eight drivers looking to make the cut and race for the $25,000 award that goes with the title.

By virtue of two previous wins in major races, only Stewart Friesen is already locked in the Final Four.

Looking for victory and the accumulating points in the first of these two race meets this Saturday, August 21 in the 30-lap Big-Block Modified feature race are 2004, 2011, and 2016 champion Tommy Meier; 2018 titlist Anthony Perrego; 2020 champion Matt Sheppard; as well as veteran drivers Billy Decker, Bob McGannon, Billy Vaninwegen, and youngster Tyler Boniface.

But they’ll also have to top 20 or more other Big-Block Modified drivers out to prove their prowess behind the wheels of their 800 horsepower race cars.

Full programs of Arkel Motors Sportsman and NAPA Northeast Parts Group Street Stocks racing complete the evening’s high-powered activities on Heroes Night sponsored by Dana Distributors of Goshen, New York, a longtime backer of racing at Orange County’s historic five-eighths-mile clay-surfaced speedway, and Goosetown Communications.
