Annual Dave Kamp Memorial Coming Up This Friday At Big Diamond Speedway
Story By: BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – With a big night of racing in the books after last Friday’s big show, Big Diamond Speedway returns this Friday night July 30th with another big four division show featuring the annual Dave Kamp Memorial Race for the Insigner Performance Modifieds.
This Friday night the mighty 358 modifeds will go 25 laps for a $3,200 first place prize. Last week’s winner Jeff Strunk will be back in the mix looking to take his third win of the season after a dominating run-in last week’s non-stop feature event. Duane Howard continues to lead the way in the race for the 2021 points championship after another top ten run last week but don’t look now as Timmy Buckwalter seems to have found the speed he showed on opening night and will be looking to move in on Howard’s point lead.
The U.S.S. Achey Open Sportsman are also on the card for this Friday night and will be going 20 laps for a winner’s share of $600. Brandon Edgar has overtaken Doug Hendricks in the race for the championship but there is no margin of error as Edgar’s lead in a mere twelve points. Tim Fitzpatrick was the feature winner last Friday as he won his second feature of the season. As an added bonus for the Open Sportsman this Friday, EM Autobody and Graphics located in Swoyersville, PA will sponsor match races for the division.
The ultra-competitive Savage 61 Crate division will race their 20-lap main event for a $750 first place prize with $100 to take the green flag. Last week’s winner Doug Smith was yet another driver who took their first career feature win in the Crate division. Steve Lyle who has led the points since opening day currently has a big lead over second-place Danny Buccafusca as he races toward the 2021 title. Port Bar and Grill has kindly stepped up and added a $150 bonus to the halfway leader of the race this Friday night.
After a barnburner of a race two weeks ago in the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners division, last week’s race was filled with spins and cautions. Still this division puts on some of the best battles weekly at Big Diamond and I am sure they will back in form this Friday as they race for a first-place prize of $400. Andrew Fayash III has a commanding point lead as the season begins to wind down.
Pit Gates will open on Friday night at 5:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM.
Pit passes are $30 for Big Diamond Speedway members. Non-member pit passes are $40.
Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.
