Demetrios Drellos Tops “Topless” Night At Devil’s Bowl Speedway After Starting 21st
Information By: JUSTIN ST. LOUIS / DEVIL’S BOWL SPEEDWAY – WEST HAVEN, VT – Demetrios Drellos came from 21st starting position in the annual Father’s Day “Topless” Special (cars racing without roofs) at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway Saturday night.
Drellos stalked leader Adam Pierson in the final laps and threw a scintillating slide-job move on the leader coming to the white flag. He took the lead and then drove off in the final lap for his fourth win of 2021.
Pierson finished a season-best second. Vince Quenneville drove from 15th to finish third.

5. 33 Melvin Pierson – East Corinth, VT
SUMMARY: Craig Wholey and Anthony Ryan had a race-long battle for the lead in the rough 25-lap race, which had a total of eight caution flags, before 15-year-old Evan Roberts swept in. Roberts made a three-wide move at lap 23 to steal the top spot for his first win of the season. Wholey (pronounced “WHO-lee”) took a career-best runner-up finish in a narrow fight with Ryan.

SUMMARY: Mark Norris took his first win of the year after a race that saw seven cautions and almost no cars (Norris included) not involved in at least one incident. Chris Murray and Andrew FitzGerald took each other out of first and second place early in the race but rebounded to complete the podium finishers.

3. 69 Tim Simonds – North Clarendon, VT
4. 11 T.J. Knight – Wells, VT
5. 44 Craig Kirby – St. Albans, VT
SUMMARY: Chris Sumner posted his third win of the season in a wild, 30-car race. Sumner led every lap on his way to the win, but tested on four restarts. Apparent runner-up Clemmy Bell was disqualified for a weight infraction.

3. 22J John McPhee Jr. – Rutland, VT
4. 17 Kaidin White – Monkton, VT
5. 10 John Smith – Poultney, VT
SUMMARY: Point leader Ray Hanson was a distant fourth on the track at lap 7, but when the front three cars encountered slower lapped traffic, Hanson quickly caught up and swept by all three leaders and the lapped car in one breathtaking pass on the backstretch. The win was Hanson’s sixth in eight races this season. Original runner-up Kamden Duffy was disqualified for a weight infraction.
