Short Track Super Series Combined Event Set For June 8th At Big Diamond Speedway

Story By: CHRIS MOORE / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – MINERSVILLE, PA – On Tuesday, June 8, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco returns to Big Diamond Speedway for the sixth running of the ‘Anthracite Assault.’

The 50-lap, $5,000-to-win Modified headliner is annually one of the biggest events on the STSS calendar. The best of the Hurlock Auto & Speed North Region and the Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central face each other in the only event all year that carries points for both regions.

The ‘North vs South’ event has been run every year since 2015, except when ‘Mother Nature’ washed out the 2018 edition.

The battle at the three-eighths-mile oval in Coal Country will be Round No. 6 in the South Region and the fourth round of the season for the North Region.

Crate 602 Sportsman take part in the program with a 25-lap, $1,500-to-win Belmont’s Garage South Region program.

Billy Pauch Jr. was victorious in the ‘Anthracite Assault’ in 2020, sliding by Jimmy Horton in lapped traffic and winning his third career STSS race. Horton, Mike Gular, Tyler Dippel, and Richie Pratt Jr. rounded out the top five.
