Fonda Speedway Set For $12K-To-Win Montgomery County Open Mod Feature This Saturday

Story By: CHRIS MOORE / FONDA SPEEDWAY – FONDA, NY – “The ‘Track of Champions’ kicked the 2021 season off with a bang this past Saturday night.

Sprakers, N.Y.’s Stewart Friesen dominated the 30-lap Sunoco Modified feature and captured the $3,612 payday. A $1,212 bonus was added to the regular $2,400 winner’s share for the Modifieds in honor of the late Jumpin’ Jack Johnson.

Next up, the stakes get significantly larger at Fonda Speedway. The Andy’s Speed Shop 40-lap Montgomery County Open will pay an astounding $12,000 to win for the Sunoco Modifieds, another total dedicated to Fonda’s all-time winningest driver.

The Modified feature will also pay $1,000 for 10th and $500 to start on this historic Saturday night at the Montgomery County half-mile. A total purse of $38,930 will be up for grabs on Saturday night. Twenty-five show-up points will be awarded to each present Modified driver.

Finish Line Landscaping has also signed on to present all Modified heat-race winners with $112.

Also in action will be the Swagger Factory Apparel Crate 602 Sportsman, Algonkin Motel Pro Stocks, Montgomery County Office of the Aging Limited Sportsman, and the Fonda Fair Four Cylinders, which will all be regular points-paying events.

The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modifieds will also be making their first appearance of 2021 at the Track of Champions.

For the April 24 event, all gates open at 3 p.m. Hot laps begin at 5:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at 6:30 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) pay $18. Kids 11 and under are FREE. Infield drive-in admission is $100 (four passes included).

Pit admission is $35 for Fonda Members and $40 for Non-Members.
