Woodhull Raceway Sets Two Practice Dates At Beginning Of April

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Two practice dates have been set for the Woodhull Raceway in preparation for the start of the regular race season.

Saturday, April 3 and 10, 2021 will see the track putting machines on the high banked one third of a mile clay oval for the first time this season as Terry and Niki Brewer begin their second year at the helm as owners and promoters of the Steuben County oval.

Staying with tradition, the Woodhull Raceway historically hosts two practice dates prior to the official start of each race season and 2021 will be no different. With early spring weather conditions sometimes iffy at best generally if one date is lost to rain, snow, or wet grounds the other date will usually see favorable weather to allow competitors the opportunity to shake down their freshened equipment.

The husband/wife duo of Terry and Niki Brewer look forward to the two practice dates as it gives the drivers and teams a great chance to get on the track and turn some laps prior to the first race of the year. Most every team that competes at Woodhull will have either totally new equipment or cars and motors that have been thoroughly gone through. There are usually some little things that come up and with practice it gives the drivers plenty of time to get laps under their belts and find those little gremlins before they become a big problem.

The track is tentatively scheduled to be open for practice from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM on both dates and teams will be given ample track time.

As per NYS and County Health Department guidelines those entering the pit area must wear a mask and practice social distancing while on the premises.

Pit admission is a minimal $15 to cover overhead costs and “IF” the stringent NYS requirements governing outside gatherings become relaxed and “IF” the main grandstand seating area can open, all fans that would like to attend will be admitted free of charge for both practice dates.

Those wishing to attend the practice dates should keep pace with all that is going on particularly if weather becomes an issue by checking out the tracks Facebook account at www.facebook.com/WoodhullRaceway/.

Gate times for both practice dates will be posted as well as any changes in NYS and County guidelines relevant to fan attendance into the grandstands.

The regular season opener at Woodhull is set to go off on Saturday, April 17 as Close Racing Supply will be the nightly event sponsor featuring a $1,000 to win feature event for the Cummings Trucking RUSH Crate Late Model Division. Also, on the opening night card will be the NAPA 602 Crate Sportsman, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks, Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Mini Stocks, Johnson Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives and Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Warriors. The Insinger Performance Mighty Modifieds will kick off their regular season on April 24.
