Brock Zearfoss Doubles-Up At Perth; Scores Western Australia Speedweek Sprint Car Title
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BROCK ZEARFOSS RACING – PERTH, AUSTRALIA – The “Jonestown Jet” Brock Zearfoss capped his first-ever trip Down Under with a perfect score, winning back-to-back main events in a double feature program at Perth Motorplex in Perth, Australia, on Saturday, January 9.
The wins, bumping his Australian total to three including a prior triumph at Ellenbrook on January 2, also solidified a Western Australia Speedweek title for Zearfoss, as well as for car owner, Sean Carren. The win at Ellenbrook was a first for the United States.
In addition to three victories, Zearfoss, who scored $5,000 and $10,000, respectively, for his Perth wins, as well as an additional $7,500 for the Speedweek championship, finished no worse than third during the six features contested during Western Australia Speedweek, opening his campaign with a third-place run at Perth on December 26, followed by a pair of runner-up performances at Perth on December 28 and Bunbury on January 1.
With a title comes prestige, as Zearfoss’ name will be added to a competitive list of prior Western Australia Speedweek champions that includes Donny Schatz, Kenny Jacobs, Jack Hewitt, and Jac Haudenschild.
“I can’t say enough about Sean Carren and the entire Goldstar Transport team. Not only were we able to communicate and show speed right out of the gate, but they treated me like one of their own and gave me an incredible experience. Sean presented me with an opportunity of a lifetime and I couldn’t be more thankful for him taking a chance on me,” Zearfoss said, who drove the Sean Carren-owned, Goldstar Transport, GKR Transport, AAA Metal Recycling, Valvoline, No. 95W sprint car during his Australian campaign. “I want to also thank Geoff Kendrick and Lynton Jeffrey for their help in bringing this deal together. My goal was to make the most of this trip and represent the United States at the highest level. To bring that goal to life is pretty surreal.”
Despite the level of success attained, Zearfoss will have little time to celebrate, as the Jonestown, Pennsylvania-native is set to begin his 2021 campaign on American soil with a stop at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia, on Saturday, January 30. The Winter Freeze program featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions will award a $10,000 top prize.
Following their Georgia visit, Brock Zearfoss and Brock Zearfoss Racing will continue the new year with a trek to Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, where the team will commence their rookie season with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Before kicking things off with the Greatest Show On Dirt, Zearfoss will join the All Stars at Volusia on Wednesday and Thursday, February 3-4; the Outlaws will begin their season the following three evenings on February 5-7.
“The trip to Australia was a perfect momentum kick for our Outlaw season,” Zearfoss continued. “I can’t wait to get started.”
