RPW Column: With A New Car For ’21, Frank Frasco Looking To Make Strides At OCFS In Second Full Season
Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – VERNON, NJ – Frank Frasco made his Sportsman division racing debut at the Eastern States Weekend in 2019. Except for some dirt bike racing in his younger years, he had no racing experience.
Year 2020 was his first full season in competition. As is was for many racers, Frank had to make adjustments to his race schedule depending on where he was able to run. But he still considered the experience to be a good one as he got the seat time he needed.
“I started at OCFS when they opened up in June. I was getting very comfortable at OCFS when the racing shut down,” Frasco said. “Our team then towed to New Egypt and raced there and it was good experience. We also went to 5 Mile in 2020.”
Frank’s Dad, Frank Jr., was a driver and car owner from the late 50’s into the 70’s.
“My Dad and Ron Brasralian owned the car in the later years. Dad would warm it up and Ron would race it. It was #186, which is why I carry that number on my car. Neil Luce used to help us out on the car, it got him started in racing.”
For 2021, Frank will have a new car to go racing with.
“We have a new Hig Fab for 2021. It is just about complete,” Frasco said. “We are looking forward to get it on the track at the early practices and get it ready for the season.”
Sponsors for the team are McAfee Hardware and Insight Septic of Wantage, N.J.
The race team crew consists of Bill Richard, Ben Richard, Steve Eubanks and Frank’s son, Thomas.
For 2021, the 186 team will once again be calling the Orange County Fair Speedway their home track. Frank wants his team to continue the upward momentum they were seeing in the later part of 2020.
“We want to make as many of the features as we can, really all of them,” Frasco said. “We just want to be consistent, keep the car out of trouble and hopefully bring home some top 5 finishes. Our team has high hopes with the new car.”
Look for the team to be in the mix in the competitive Sportsman at OCFS. Good luck in 2021 Frank and team.
