RPW Column: Another DIRTcar Pro Stocker Living A Dream; Scott Towslee’s Headed To The Chili Bowl
Column By: DANIEL SANCHEZ / RPW – MANCHESTER CENTER, VT – The Chili Bowl may be the biggest race of the year across all forms of auto racing. Names like Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Brady Bacon, Tim McCreadie, and many more come to mind when talking about this huge event.
In 2020, Lebanon Valley Speedway locals, myself (Daniel Sanchez) and Rob Yetman competed at the Chili bowl. Now, Scott Towslee the driver of the #23 Creek Bottom Contracting Northeast Pro Stock is taking on the big show in Tulsa in 2021.
Towslee has a positive outlook on his first Chili Bowl.
“What I am expecting for the first time going to the Chili Bowl, is to have fun and enjoy the experience to able to have a chance to run the Chili Bowl Nationals,” Towslee said.
It was not so long ago that I was in Scott’s position. I had the same feelings and from my experience I was in awe every time I walked through the door of the Tulsa Expo Center. Really make sure you enjoy all of the little things going on around you at this event.
Setting goals is what every racer does before going into a season or big event.
“A couple of goals that I have, are to be able to make the D Main or somewhere up there in the alphabet soup races and also, to have some fun. This is a dream come true to be able to run the chili bowl I really didn’t think it was going to happen,” Towslee said.
Alphabet soup at the Chili Bowl is an event where there are multiple races in a row, last year starting in the O Main, racers try to race their way up to the A Main.
My advice for Scott from my experience last year, is to never forget you are there to have fun. Also, remember that you’re racing against the best drivers in the world at the Chili Bowl. You will get a practice day, preliminary day, and then alphabet soup day. The most important day is going to be practice day. Get a good read on the track, watch what line the other drivers are running, and get a good feel for your car. This will set you up for a successful week at the races.
I have been watching you race from go karts up until now and I am very proud of you Scott. I know you will do great and you have all of us from back home cheering you on. Good luck and HAVE FUN!
