More Than $21,000 In Special Awards & Lap Money Added To Eastern States Weekend At OCFS

Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – Competitors in all four racing divisions—United Rental Equipment Big-Block DIRTcar Modifieds, H.O. Penn Small-Block Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks—will see their posted purse and lap prize money enhanced by more than $21,000 in special awards during the two-day 59th Annual Eastern States Weekend, Friday and Saturday, October 23-24 at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York.

In addition to the $25,000-to-win with $500 to start headline Eastern States 200 for the earth-shaking Big-Block Modifieds, the Friday preliminary Rapid Tire Race to the Pole Race for the top-six in time trials and the six heat race winners will battle for front row starts in the 200 with $2,000 going to the winner and $1,000 to the runner-up.

Drivers finishing third through sixth in time trials, each heat race winner, Last Chance race winner, and Real Last Chance race winner will receive a $100 Gift Card from Behrent’s Warehouse. Real Last Chance Race winners will also receive 10 gallons of VP Race Fuels.

The leader of each sponsored lap in the 200 will see his prize money increased by $25, with the exception of the $1,000 Busch Beer Halfway Lap Award from Dana Distributors and $666 for Lap 66 in Memory of Jared Petruska from the Petruska Family and Friends.

Other Big-Block Modified special awards include the $1,000 Superior Remodeling Hard Charger Award; the $500 Big Apple Carting Rookie of the Race Award; each of the top-three finishers in the 200, $150 Gift Certificates from Penske Shocks; a $200 set of Ear Molds to the 13th-place starter from Racing Electronics; a $50 Gift Card for the Most Laps Led as well as a $200 Hard Luck Gift Card from East Coast Speed; and for the winning crew chief and pit crew, a case of Busch Beer from Dana Distributors.

Special Awards for the 75-lap $10,000-to-win with $200 to start Hauser Brothers Mechanical Eastern States Championship for the Small-Block Modifieds include Pole and Outside Pole starting positions $700 and $300 respectively from Dig Safe New York, while those who time trial third through sixth will each earn $100 from Competition Carbs. Winners of Small-Block Modified heats and Last Chance races will each take home $100 from WLR Construction NY. Each sponsored lap will pay the race leader an additional $20.

Other Small-Block Modified awards include $666 to the leader of lap-66 In Memory of Jared Petruska from the Petruska Family and Friends; a $500 Hard Charger Award from Escape Powersports Plus; $500 for leading at halfway from Mike Sparta Trucking; $300 for the Rookie of the Race from United Petroleum Services, Inc.; $150 Gift Certificates to each of the top-three finishers from Penske Shocks; a $50 Gift Card from East Coast Speed for leading the most laps; and a case of Busch Beer to the winning crew chief and crew from Dana Distributors.

To date, special awards for the 50-lap $5,000-to-win Sportsman Eastern States Championship race include $500 to the pole position winner from Big Apple Carting, and $300 for the outside pole slot from Powder Tech-Powder Coating, Duanesburg, NY. Heat and Last Chance race winners will each get $75 Gift Cards from Interstate Batteries. The leader of each sponsored lap will bank an additional $15.

Other Sportsman division awards include a $500 Hard Charger Award compliments of RJ Smith; $500 to the Halfway Leader race leader from Big Apple Carting; $200 Rookie Award presented by United Petroleum Services, Inc.; $50 Gift Card for the most laps led from East Coast Speed; and from Dana Distributors, a case of Busch Beer to the winning crew chief and crew.

The Saturday Eastern States Street Stock race is set for 25 laps, paying the winner $1,000. In addition, the Halfway Leader will bank $250 from Rock Fantasy-Steve Keeler.
