Donny Schatz, TSR Battle For Top-Ten Runs With World Of Outlaws At US 36 & I-80

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – It was another consistent weekend for Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, this time cracking into the top-ten on back-to-back occasions during World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition in Missouri and Nebraska.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/DieHard/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, earned his top-ten performances during starts at US 36 Raceway in Osborn, Missouri, on Saturday, and I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska, on Sunday, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively.

Resulting in his 17th top-five outcome of the season, Schatz’ fifth-place rally on Saturday commenced from the inside of row five, earning his way into the 35-lap finale by way of third-place finish during his respective heat race.

Although missing the top-five by two positions the following evening at I-80 Speedway, Schatz battled as high as fourth during segments of the main event, forced to deal with championship rivals, Logan Schuchart and Sheldon Haudenschild, along the way.

The ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion will continue his 2020 campaign with two nights of competition at the recently reopened Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota, on Saturday and Sunday, September 5-6. Saturday’s preliminary main event will award a $10,000 top prize, with Sunday’s finale awarding a $20,000 payday. Schatz will enter the two-day showstopper currently third in the World of Outlaws championship, 70 markers behind Logan Schuchart and Brad Sweet.
