Danny Dietrich Has Amazing Labor Day Weekend; Sweeps Leiby Memorial At Lincoln

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / GARY KAUFFMAN RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – Danny Dietrich’s Labor Day weekend schedule was packed to the brim, but filled with accomplishment, scoring two victories in five feature starts while finishing inside the top-ten during all five attempts.

Impressive enough, Dietrich’s pair of victories occurred in the same night, sweeping the Bob Leiby Memorial twin feature program at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, September 5.

Dietrich’s pair of Leiby Memorial wins were not easily earned, forced to charge ahead from 14th to claim the first of two $2,500 top prizes, then rallying from eighth to secure the second with a final lap pass.

Padding his weekend stats, “Double-D” finished eighth at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, September 4, fifth at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sunday, September 6, and sixth at Port Royal Speedway on Sunday, September 7. Perhaps, Dietrich’s most impressive result of the weekend, aside from his victories in the Pigeon Hills, occurred at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sunday. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native rallied ahead from 17th to earn his fifth-place outcome, doing so over 30, uninterrupted laps.

“That was a great weekend for our team. To sweep the night at Lincoln says a ton about our program and what we are capable of doing. I think we are more than capable of doing some big things this weekend at Port Royal,” Danny Dietrich said, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing, Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, No. 48 sprint car. “I want to thank all of the fans for coming out and supporting us. Hopefully it’s a packed house this weekend at Port.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with a three-day stay at Port Royal Speedway on Thursday through Saturday, September 10-12. The 53rd running of the Tuscarora 50 featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions will be the main attraction, headlined with a 50-lap, $53,000-to-win program on Saturday evening. “Double-D” will enter the weekend with 12 victories on the season, two of which accomplished with the traveling All Stars.
