Outlaw Speedway Removed From WoO Late Model Schedule, Two-Day Stop At Thunder Mountain (PA) Scheduled
Story By: BRIAN WALKER / WORLD OF OUTLAWS – CONCORD, NC – Due to ongoing mass gathering restrictions, the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series event at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y. has been cancelled for September 25.
Taking place for Outlaw’s absence is Thunder Mountain Speedway, making it a doubleheader weekend at the Knox Dale, Pa. track on Friday and Saturday, September 25-26. Friday’s $10,000-to-win program at the 3/8th-mile venue is part of the fifth annual Eric Witherite Memorial, while Saturday’s second $10,000-to-win show honors the Stephanie Eckl Memorial.
The September doubleheader will mark the first-ever appearance at Thunder Mountain Speedway for the World of Outlaws. Marking the 103rd series event in the state of Pennsylvania, Thunder Mountain will become the 17th different track in the Keystone State to host a World of Outlaws Late Model race.
As far as what’s next, the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series will get back on track with appearances at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway on Friday, Sept. 4 and Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 5. After that, the Thunder Mountain weekend (Sept. 25-26) will wrap up the month before shows at Cherokee Speedway (Oct. 2), 411 Motor Speedway (Oct. 3), Kokomo Speedway (Oct. 23), and The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Nov. 5-7), conclude the 2020 campaign.
With nine points-paying races remaining, Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill. continues to chase his third World of Outlaws championship over Ricky Weiss (-284), Cade Dillard (-318), Darrell Lanigan (-370), Chase Junghans (-386), Dennis Erb Jr. (-472), Ashton Winger (-516), Scott Bloomquist (-588), Boom Briggs (-864), and Brent Larson (-936).
