It’s A Doubleheader Weekend At Cornwall Motor Speedway

Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – It will be a busy weekend at Cornwall Motor Speedway as two events will be hosted Saturday and Sunday!

Sprint Car are highlighting Saturday’s card while Modified and Sportsman will share the spotlight on Sunday with 50-lap features.

A good field of 360 Sprint Cars will be assembled for the 25-lap event presented by Les Fondations 4 saisons as the Poirier duo Steve and Jordan will lead a field of nearly 20 drivers from Quebec also some of the good drivers from the Oshweken area that includes the Turner family composed of Cory, Ryan and Jamie along with Jim Huppunen, Holly Porter, Glenn Styres and many others.

The Lightning Sprints should bring their best field of 2020, will Xavier Lauzon visit the winner’s circle again or someone else will do it? They will battle for 25 laps around the quarter mile bullring.

CD Beauchamp seems to be the guy to beat at Cornwall this season in Pro-Stocks but will have to watch Bruno Richard who won as Granby on Saturday. Richard is a rookie this season but brings a lot of experience from running laps in Street-Stock and Mini-Stock. Pascal Payeur, Stephane Lebrun, Bruno Cyr, Dany Voghel and others will be on hand for the 30-lap feature.

The 4-wheelers Pro and Amateur classes were added to the event, we are expecting about 15 competitors and the Junior 3 Go-Kart class will compete on the small track.

Moving on to Sunday, the Modifieds and Sportsman will have healthy field for their respective 50-lap features as nearly 30 drivers are registered for the Modified and 25 for the Sportsman Fat Les Brockville Waterfront will be the sponsor for Sunday.

It is shaping up to be another Ontario vs Quebec battle in the Modifieds with more than a dozen drivers coming from La Belle Province including 2020 feature winners this season Mario Clair, Francois Bernier, David Hebert and Dany Gagné, who will visit the winner’s circle on Sunday?

It will also be competitive in the Sportsman with solid field of Cornwall and Brockille regulars, can Jarrett Herbison add a third win in a row or somebody else will claim the win?

The Vintage and Mini-Stock with 20-lap events each will complete Sunday night’s racing program along with the Senior/Stock Karts on the small track.

Still under COVID-19 Regulations, only 100 spectators are allowed per event and all tickets were quickly sold. 360nitro.tv will broadcast the event on both nights, the cost will be at $19.95 for Saturday and $24.95 for Sunday, but If you buy the 2-day special it will cost $33.95, a $11 savings or each program would be at $17.
