RPW Column: Jimmy Wells’ Modified Win Highlights Accord Speedway Dash Events
RPW Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – ACCORD, NY – With the government of New York State still barring spectators at many of the state’s racing facilities, it is not yet possible for Accord Speedway to open their gates to their fans and present a full race card.
However, wanting to keep the facility active and give the racers an opportunity to do some racing, Accord Speedway owner Gary Palmer opened his facility Friday night for a third running of dash races.
Sponsorship from A to Z Plumbing and Upstate Auto enhanced the dash purses for the evening. Much thanks goes out to these two businesses, stepping up to help out another business during these difficult times.
Jimmy Wells came away with the Modified dash win. It was the 2nd consecutive dash win for Wells. Joe Judge finished 2nd. Judge has been solid in the 3 dash races, recording a win and two 2nd place finishes. Kevin Ward placed 3rd and Pat Reiser, turning his first ever laps at Accord Speedway, came in 4th.
Steve Williams started near the tail of the field in the Sportsman dash, but he was able to take the checkered flag over George Quackenbush and Pat Mann.
Tasha Travis recorded her 2nd straight dash win in the 4 Cylinder class, taking the victory over Mike Travis and Tim DeGrote.
Smokin Joe Narok took the Street Stock dash over Nicole Ackerly.
As racing in New York seems to be an ever changing situation, stay tuned to the Accord Speedway’s social media pages for further updates on future events.
